About Us:
Modal provides the infrastructure foundation for AI teams. With instant GPU access, sub-second container startups, and native storage, Modal makes it simple to train models, run batch jobs, and serve low-latency inference. Companies like Suno, Lovable, and Substack rely on Modal to move from prototype to production without the burden of managing infrastructure.
We're a fast-growing team based out of NYC, SF, and Stockholm. We've hit 9-figure ARR and recently raised a Series B at a $1.1B valuation. We have thousands of customers who rely on us for production AI workloads, including Lovable, Scale AI, Substack, and Suno.
Working at Modal means joining one of the fastest-growing AI infrastructure organizations at an early stage, with many opportunities to grow within the company. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g. Seaborn, Luigi), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience.
The Role:
We are hiring our first People & Talent team member in Stockholm to support and grow our presence in the region.
This key role will serve as the local point of contact for recruiting, people operations, and daily workplace needs. As a true generalist, you'll collaborate closely with our global People & Talent team while managing local responsibilities in Stockholm.
We’re seeking someone comfortable working independently, who enjoys multi-tasking, and thrives on creating straightforward, effective processes where needed.
If you love building from the ground up, blending strategic thinking with practical implementation, and being the main contact for all People & Talent matters, this position is ideal for you.
What you’ll do:
Talent & Recruiting Operations
Own end-to-end recruiting operations for the Stockholm office, partnering with hiring managers across departments
Manage interview coordination end-to-end, including scheduling across time zones, candidate communication, and interviewer preparation
Ensure a high-quality, human candidate experience from first touch through offer
Maintain accurate data in our ATS (Ashby) and keep recruiting processes running smoothly
Identify gaps or inefficiencies in the hiring process and proactively propose improvements
Act as a trusted partner to hiring managers, helping them navigate hiring with clarity and momentum
People Operations & Compliance
Support core people processes for the Stockholm team, including onboarding, offboarding, payroll coordination, and local compliance
Partner with external vendors and our global People team to ensure we’re operating in compliance with Swedish law
Help document and operationalize people processes so they’re clear, repeatable, and scalable
Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions about policies, benefits, and people operations
Workplace & Office Operations (As needed / temporary)
Help ensure the Stockholm office runs smoothly day-to-day (snacks, seating, basic supplies, office setup)
Be a thoughtful steward of the in-office experience, creating a welcoming, functional environment
Coordinate with vendors or building management as needed
Requirements:
5+ years experience in a People Ops, Talent Ops, or People & Talent generalist role, ideally in a fast-growing tech environment
Comfortable working autonomously and owning outcomes with minimal oversight
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - you notice what others miss
Clear, thoughtful communicator with candidates, employees, and stakeholders
Comfortable shifting between strategic thinking and hands-on execution
Familiarity with recruiting tools, ATS systems, and people operations workflows
Excited to be a foundational hire and help build people processes from the ground up
